Dr. Rekha Murthy is an infectious diseases physician, healthcare epidemiologist, and physician executive with expertise in clinical quality and patient safety. She served for over 25 years as a physician leader, including as Associate and Interim Chief Medical Officer, in driving superior clinical quality and safety outcomes in a leading and matrixed healthcare organization. She has expertise at bridging the knowledge gap between new or emerging healthcare analytics and clinical decision support tools in organization-wide quality efforts. A leading expert in healthcare quality, epidemiology, and emerging infectious diseases, she volunteers on national committees and writing groups in guiding and influencing policy on healthcare quality, safety, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship. She led/co-authored national guidance for COVID-19 vaccine as condition of employment for healthcare personnel and for quality of care and infection prevention in skilled nursing facilities (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, SHEA). She serves as chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee and co-chair of SHEA/CDC conference on Health Equity and Antibiotic Stewardship.
